What are the advantages of a web site over WebCT?
- You own it
- Scripts and other goodies
- Theme-based rather than course-based
- World-wide
- Fun
And compared to WebCT, it's not hard to set up a web site.
| The course number changes every semester in WebCT. You need to update references to images and other files, without a reliable FTP or search and replace. |
| What could be easier than having your students look for you at ProfessorSmartyPants.org |
| On the state server, the state owns it. A personal web site is your space to decorate as you see fit. |
| You can use limited JavaScript on WebCT, if you're careful. But, it's not recommended. |
