There are advantages to learning on-line:

• Convenient: You don't have to comb your hair to go to class.
• Comfortable: Some students work better when they are relaxed at home.
• Active: Students must seek out their own resources.

On-line students can build learning skills as they complete a course (not unlike what they do in person).

The role of the instructor is much more explicitly that of "learning coach."
